課程概述

This course provides an introduction to radar design trade-offs, antennas, transmitters, and coherent receivers. Analysis of radar signals as noise-corrupted stochastic processes, with emphasis on digital signal processing for Doppler spectrum and moment estimation. Applications of weather radars will also be introduced and discussed.  

課程目標
1. Understand weather radar system, subsystems, and design trade-offs
2. Understand the acquisition process of weather data
3. Understand the statistical properties of weather signals
4. Understand and implement basic processing techniques
 
課程要求
Students should have a good grasp of vector calculus, complex variables, statistics, electricity, and magnetism. An elementary understanding and interest in the physics of the atmosphere are useful. Basic programming skills are desirable using a high-level language.
